“ This place is the closest you'll get to Japan. Their broth is very tasty. Service is spectacular. They're so kind. It's small so it easily filled up. Definitely need to make reservations if you want to dine there. ”
“ Came here after a long day of bouldering and noticed people rushing in as soon as the Open sign lit up for dinner! This place filled up in a matter of minutes and it's for good reason. The food tastes super authentic and a lot of attention is paid to the quality of ingredients. The katsu curry udon I had was super rich and hearty. I washed it down with a melon cream soda and a couple scoops of black sesame ice cream (which was all insanely good). The servers were attentive and took our plates and refilled our tea frequently. The prices are a bit high but you don't pay HST on top and you get what you pay for and then some. If you're looking for a high-quality Japanese restaurant in Scarborough I highly recommend coming here! ”
“ I ordered the Tempura Udon with Unagi Don Set and the Tonkatsu Set. Overall, the food was quite impressive. The udon stood out the most it was so fresh, and the broth was rich and flavorful. Having tried many udon spots across Toronto, I can confidently say this restaurant serves the best udon I’ve had. The tonkatsu, while tasty, didn’t quite measure up to my favorite spot, Katsuya. It was good, but not exceptional in comparison. The service and atmosphere were fantastic. Despite all the tables being reserved, we were seated at the bar, which turned out to be a highlight of the experience. Watching the chef cook was entertaining! Overall, I’d recommend this place, especially for udon lovers! ”

Upon entering, the restaurant’s light wooden design and bar seating overlooking the kitchen immediately caught my eye. Sitting at the bar gave me a front-row seat to watch the skilled Japanese staff assembling orders, which added to the authentic experience. The service was excellent, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of. We ordered quite a spread, starting with Japanese green tea that was incredibly soothing and set the tone for the meal. I had the Katsu Curry Udon, which was hearty and satisfying—the katsu was perfectly fried, and the curry added a delicious spicy kick. My mom opted for the beef udon, featuring a rich broth and tender, flavourful beef. My dad went with the Zenbu Udon, a bowl packed with beef, tempura, and a variety of ingredients that created a flavour-packed experience. “ We enjoyed a memorable lunch today at Zen Sanuki Udon in Scarborough. We made a reservation in advance, and everything went smoothly even though we arrived late. The food is truly excellent—high quality and beautifully prepared. The duck udon stood out, with its rich savoury broth, thick slices of duck, yuzu, and leeks adding amazing depth of flavour. The udon noodles were very soft—surprisingly so—but I’m not an udon expert, so perhaps that’s part of the style. Absolutely loved the firm, lightly flavoured unagi on excellent high quality rice. We also received complimentary fresh tofu on the side. Sake tasting flight was well worth the 15.50 for three full shot glasses, though I would have preferred more traditional sake cups since shot glasses are messy and inelegant. Service was friendly, although they didn't refill water or green tea, which was a small miss. Still, it’s definitely worth the slightly higher price for the quality. Lots of free parking, comfortable chairs, clean bathroom and a relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely return soon! ”
“ Been going to this place for years for their udon - especially their Ikura Oroshi Udon which is their cold udon (super chewy!) but recently discovered their katsu. We had been craving curry katsu since Japan and hadn't been able to find one with authentic sauce here except at Zen Udon. Not to mention the portion is pretty huge!! Love the shaved ice with strawberry also. ”
